'The Holthuysen Collection' ~ Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland.

Part 3 - The 'P' - Porcelain - decors.

These white background decors were known as the 'P' decors - the 'P' standing for Porcelain. They were not made of porcelain, the word was used because of the white background which looked like white porcelain. Date marks were used on some pieces. Starting at 1901 with 'P/a' or 'P/A' then 1902 with 'P/b or P/B' and so on. These shown are only a very small selection of the 'P' decors in 'The Holthuysen Collection'.
